From 5 January 2026, the Australian Government is replacing the Child Care Subsidy Activity Test with the 3 Day Guarantee, ensuring all eligible families can access at least 72 hours of subsidised early childhood education and care per fortnight.

What Is the 3 Day Guarantee?
The 3 Day Guarantee means all Child Care Subsidy eligible families are guaranteed at least 72 hours of subsidised care per fortnight, equivalent to three days a week. This groundbreaking change removes previous activity test barriers, making quality early childhood education more accessible to families regardless of their work, study or volunteer commitments.
Key Benefits of the 3 Day Guarantee for Your Family
Universal Access to Subsidised Care
All Child Care Subsidy eligible families can get 3 days’ subsidised care a week (72 hours per fortnight) for each child. This means your little one can benefit from consistent early learning experiences, supporting their development during the crucial early years.
Additional Hours Available
Families who want to access more than 72 hours can still get 100 hours of subsidised care each fortnight if they have more than 48 hours each fortnight of recognised participation, or have an exemption or experience exceptional circumstances.
Cost of Living Relief
The 3 Day Guarantee helps make quality early learning at Whiz Kidz more affordable for your family, with guaranteed subsidised access reducing your out-of-pocket childcare costs.
Support for First Nations Families
Families caring for First Nations children can get 100 hours of subsidised care each fortnight for their First Nations child, providing even greater access to early education.

Families already on higher than 72 hours keep their entitlement.
